Know your current council
Do you remember who you voted for at the last full Hills Shire Council election in 2017. No? This writer is not sure either.
Following that election, the Hills Shire Council was made up as follows:
1 elected Mayor: Liberal
12 elected councillors: 10 x Liberal, 2 x Labor
Of course party allegiance does not tell us everything about our individual representatives position (on climate matters or anything else). We hope to bring you more on candidates views on climate matters closer to September's election. But you might observe that it is not conducive to good outcomes, particularly on climate, to have our local representative body so dominated by one political force. We will expand on this theme in future posts.
Following the 2017 election, there have been two councillors resigned and one elected in the West Ward By-election in July 2018. These are your current mayor and councillors:
Notes:
Vacant due to the resignation of Robyn Preston (Liberal) following her election to the NSW Parliament in 2019 state election.
Elected in the West Ward by-election of July 2018 replacing Raymond Harty (Liberal) who resigned after the 2017 election.
Councillors are listed in the sequence they were elected at the 2017 election
